Jenny Turner is a native of the thumb, a wife of 26 years, a mother of 3, an artist and educator with experience teaching adults and children. She graduated from Spring Arbor College with an Art and Elementary Education degree.  She has taught at Laker Elementary and now teaches Art at Cross Lutheran School.  She and her husband started TurnerArts, a company that encompasses their love for art. A branch of this company started over 10 years ago is Art Party by TurnerArts, where Jenny has painting parties that teach acrylic painting to all ages. Introducing both kids and adults to the art world and giving them confidence in creating is something that gives her joy and fulfillment.  She also does commission work of all kinds but specializes in pet portraits. Her favorite mediums to work in are watercolor and acrylic.  More recently, Jenny is developing a devotional book about art as worship and hopes it will be a great tool for artists and creatives to grow a deeper relationship with the Lord.

Ever since I was a child, I have always loved to paint and draw.  I also love nature and the beauty that is all around me, displaying what I believe is the creation of the Almighty God.  Creating art serves as a tool for worship in my own life, as I see and connect

God’s creation to His power and His love for me. Growing up and now living in rural Huron County, I have had no shortage of beautiful views and wildlife.  From fields, farms, trees, lakes, breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, inspiration surrounds me and leads to the focus of many of my creations. I also love the detail and variety of the animal world, which are also subjects in my work.   I believe that one of the purposes of art is enjoyment. The enjoyment the artist gets when making it and the enjoyment it gives the viewer when they look at it.  Some of the things I paint are just because I find them beautiful, while others awaken a special memory or experience.  For some a painting of a flower may be just that, while other viewers may be taken back to their grandmother’s garden.  A bird may be just a bird, but some may hear their song as they read a book in a hammock under a tree.  These feelings and memories are why I choose to create what I do, and I hope they evoke a special connection to the viewer as well.
